On March 29th, In Boao Forum Roundtable Discussion 4—The Role of Think Tanks in Decision-making, ZHU Min (Vice President of International Monetary Fund) mentioned that interconnectivity is the key in today’s world. The speed of capital flow is faster and its impact has become stronger. Almost everything is synchronized in globalization, creating a huge impact on think tanks. He also stressed the importance of global context for a think tank. Think tanks need a global context as well as much more specific and focused goals, though not necessarily huge in scale.

He said that think tanks in Asia need to look into the big picture, which is the shift of economic power from advanced economies to emerging economies and markets and think tanks need to take responsibility in the international arena to move into the new structure of the global new normal.
