In Session 33 “Transcending the Cold-War Mentality: A Fresh Outlook on the Security Architecture in the Asia Pacific”, WANG Yingfan, Former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, China, stressed the importance of positive interaction between super powers. He quoted Chairman Xi’s speech on regional diplomacy which encourages Asian countries to establish friendly cooperative relationships with countries and organizations outside Asia. Various parties are welcomed to make contributions to Asia’s security and development. WANG pointed out that US is involved in a lot of security architectures in Asia-Pacific region, and that a number of countries rely on US for their security. WANG intended that the security architecture in Asia Pacific should be an inclusive and open one, beneficial to all countries in this area.
