 Dr Jyotsna Suri is CMD of Bharat Hotels Limited. Under her able leadership, “The Lalit” hotels is today the largest privately owned Hotel Chain in India with eleven operational five-star luxury hotels, two mid-segment hotels and six Five Star luxury hotels under development in India and overseas. Dr. Suri is a versatile persona and is passionate about not just managing hotels but developing destinations. Her initiative to boost tourism and popularize destinations has inspired her to organize annual events in various parts of India. In the field of CSR, her social initiatives include ‘Project Disha’, a special programme to assist school children and local youth get access to quality education leading to employment. She holds various portfolios with Industry Associations – President of FICCI; India’s apex Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Chairperson of FICCI Tourism Committee; India’s only member on the International Executive Committee of WTTC; Founder Member of WTTC (II) and Executive Member of HAI. Her achievements in the hospitality and other sectors have been recognized both within and outside India and she is the only woman to have received The World Travel Market Global Award (2011); listed amongst the Top 50 Business Power Women in Asia by Forbes Asia (2014); Asia’s Leading Woman in Hospitality Award at the Women in Leadership (WIL) Asia Awards (2012) and several other awards by leading Indian publications. The University of Warwick UK has conferred on her the Honorary Degree of “Doctor of Laws” in recognition of her contribution to tourism.
