Chief Justice, Federal Supreme Court of the Federative Republic of Brazil

Justice Enrique Ricardo Lewandowski is the Chief Justice of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil (Supremo Tribunal Federal – STF) since September 10th 2014. He is also the President of the National Council of Justice (Conselho Nacional de Justiça - CNJ). He has been Chief Justice of the Superior Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Eleitoral – TSE) from 2010 to April 2012. During his mandate he coordinated the Presidential elections of 2010 in which the Brazilian people elected the first woman as President of the nation. Before being nominated to the highest judicial body in the country´s Judiciary in March 2006, Lewandowski was a judge at the Criminal Court of Appeal and subsequently promoted to the São Paulo State Supreme Court. Chief Justice Lewandowski is graduated in Political and Social Sciences and Law. He earned a Master degree in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, United States of America. He has also holds a Master and a Doctor degree in Public Law from the University of São Paulo, where he is a Full Professor of Government Law.He wrote several articles and books, amongst which “Globalization, Regionalization and Sovereignty”.
