CHUI Sai On
Chief Executive, the Macao Special Administrative Region
Mr. Chui Sai On has been reappointed as the fourth-term Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region. After winning the election for the fourth-term Chief Executive on 31 August 2014, by receiving an overwhelming percentage of votes, Mr. Chui was officially appointed by the State Council as the Chief Executive-elect of the fourth-term Chief Executive of the Macao SAR on 17 September. He received the Order of Appointment of the State Council from Premier Li Keqiang on 22 September, and assumed office on 20 December 2014. Mr. Chui was elected the third-term Chief Executive of the Macao SAR on 26 July 2009, also by receiving a high percentage of votes, and assumed office on 20 December of the same year. Chui Sai On was born in Macao in 1957. His nationality is Chinese. After he had completed his secondary education at Ling Nam School in Macao, he continued his studies in the United States of America and graduated from the California State University of Sacramento with a bachelor degree in Community Health with honor. He then obtained his Master degree and Doctor Degree of Public Health at the School of Public Health, University of Oklahoma, U.S.A. He served as a lawmaker on the 5th Legislative Assembly from 1992-1996 and was both a member of the Council for Youth Affairs and the Environmental Committee. He was also the Principal of Kiang Peng School and the Kiang Peng Centre of Continuing Education for Professionals. He played an active role in many community organizations in Macao. He was the Chief of Medical and Health Department of the Tung Sin Tong Charitable Institution and member of Management Board of the same Institution, Executive Director of Macao Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association, President of the Juvenile Staff Committee of Kiang Wu Hospital, Director of the Macao Eye Bank Fund, Honorary President of Macao Nursing Association, President of Macao Junior Chamber (1991), Honorary Life-Time President of Macao Junior Chamber of Commerce Senior Member Association, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Macao Association for the Mentally Handicapped, Vice-President of the Macao Management Association and Vice-President of the Association of the Natives of “San Wui” in Macao, He was also a member of the Executive Committee of China Youth Federation and the Honorary Vice-President of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association. In August 1999, he was appointed by the Central People's Government as the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Government of Macao SAR of the PRC. In the same year, he was also appointed as a member of the 1st Executive Council of the Macao SAR Government. On 4 December 2004, he was reappointed as the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture for the second term of the Macao SAR Government. While he was the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, he also held the following posts including President of Macao Health Reform Advisory Committee, President of Macao Healthy City Committee, President of AIDS Prevention and Control Commission, President of Education Committee, President of Youth Affairs Committee, President of Consultative Council of Culture, President of General Archives Committee, President of Macao Sports Committee, President of Committee on Social Welfare, President of Committee on Elderly Affairs, President of Narcotics Control Committee, President of Commission on Rehabilitation Affairs, President of Tourism Development Committee, Chairman of Macao Grand Prix Committee, President of Tourism Crisis Management Office, President of Coordinating Committee of Macao Special Administrative Region of the Support for the Reconstruction of the Zone Affected by the Earthquake in Sichuan, Coordinator of the Inter-departmental Working Group that Accompany and Support the Planning and the Execution of the Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Member of Science and Technology Committee, Macao S.A.R. Representative to the General Assembly of Shareholders & president of the General Assembly of Macao 4th East Asian Games Organising Committee, Ltd.
