A Royal Decree was issued on 2006 upgrading Chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu to ministerial level and appointing His Highness to this position.
A Cabinet resolution was issued on 2012 reappointing His Highness as Chairman of Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu.

In addition, His Highness played an effective role in several development programs which were of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, such as: Municipal and Rural Complexes-Chiefs Performance Development Programs and Municipal Cooperation, Value Engineering Studies Program, and Privatization of Municipal Activities Program. His Highness has also participated in a number of forums and scientific seminars in the Kingdom and abroad during which he presented several researches and working papers in the field of municipal works, economical, industrial and investment affairs. His Highness has a special interest in the field of social and cultural activities as well.
