Jiang Jianguo, Han nationality, was born in December 1956 in Hanshou County, Hunan Province. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in January 1975, and started work in September 1977. He graduated from Hunan University and has a Master's Degree in engineering. He has been Vice Minister of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPCCC)’s Publicity Department and Minister of the State Council Information Office since December 2014. Jiang is a member of the 18^th Central Committee of the CPC. He formerly served as Deputy Director of State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT), and Secretary of SAPPRFT’s CPC Leading Party Group; Secretary of General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP)’s CPC Leading Party Group, and Deputy Director of GAPP; and Deputy Secretary of GAPP’s CPC Leading Party Group. Prior to his positions in the central government, he served as standing member of Hunan Provincial Committee of CPC, and Director of the Hunan Provincial Publicity Department; Secretary of Shaoyang City Committee of CPC of Hunan Province; Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Xiangtan City Committee of CPC of Hunan Province, etc.
