Joachim NAGEL
Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank
Dr. Joachim Nagel is Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank, responsible for the Markets and Information Technology Departments since 2010. From 2015 on he is also in charge of the Controlling, Accounting and Organisation Department. He joined the Bundesbank in 1999 and was initially employed as Head of the President’s Office at the former Land Central Bank of Bremen, Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. In 2003, Dr Nagel took on responsibility for “Liquidity management” at the Bundesbank Central Office. In 2004, he was placed in charge of the Market Analyses and Reporting Section and in 2005 he took on the position of Head of the Market Analyses and Portfolios Division. Between 2008 and 2010 Dr Nagel was Head of the Markets Department. Between 1997 and 1999 he was a research assistant at the University of Karlsruhe. In 1998, he received a grant from the SEW-Eurodrive Foundation for the purpose of carrying out research in Washington DC. In the same year, he was awarded the Klaus Tschira Award for Achievements in Public Understanding of Science (Klaus Tschira is one of the founders of the software company, SAP) for “clear science” in the field of economics. He attained his doctorate from the University of Karlsruhe.
