Gary W. Parr is a Vice Chairman of Lazard. For 30 years, he has focused on providing strategic advice to financial institutions worldwide. Advice included: the Lehman restructuring, the sale of Bear Stearns to JPMorgan, the Board of Fannie Mae in the US-led restructuring, Mitsubishi UFJ’s $9 billion investment in Morgan Stanley, the merger of Bank of New York and Mellon and The New York Stock Exchange’s IPO. Previously, he was with Morgan Stanley where he was Co-Head of the Global Mergers and Acquisitions Department, and he was Chairman and Head of Global Financial Institutions. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Parr was with a group from First Boston that formed Wasserstein Perella. He rose to be Co-President. Mr. Parr’s current activities include: Chairman of the Parr Center for Ethics at the University of North Carolina; Board Member, The Morgan Library & Museum; Chairman of New York Philharmonic; Board of Lincoln Center; Chairman of Venetian Heritage; Board of Berkley Divinity School at Yale; University of North Carolina, with honors, Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma; Northwestern University, M.B.A.
