Born in Patiala, India, Mr. Kishan Kumar Modi, (August 27, 1940), is the eldest son of Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi, the Founder of the Modi Group of Industries, who promoted various townships, laid foundations of various industries and commissioned them since 1932. Mr. Modi is the Chairman of multi billion dollar diversified Modi Enterprises, a Group of Companies with many international partners and service sectors. The Group has interests in different categories pan India – Modicare (multi-level marketing), Modi Academic International Institute (education), Twenty Four Seven (convenience stores), Colorbar (cosmetics) and Cigars. Enterprises like Godfrey Phillips India and Indofil Chemicals are renowned leaders in the field of cigarettes and chemicals respectively. The group also has interest in gourmet restaurants (Ego chain), luxury, fashion and travel. Mr. Modi has made significant contributions to Indian industry and holds numerous positions in various industry, trade, education, sport and charitable organizations such as President of CACCI (2002-2004, 2004-2006), Past-President of FICCI (1997-98); former President of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1983–84). While occupying the prestigious Presidents office in FICCI, Mr. Modi pushed the government for more investments in infrastructure and privatizations in various sectors. Mr. Modi also worked towards the domestic industry be given adequate protection and labour laws have changes that enable restructuring and redesigning of Indian enterprises to make them globally competitive. Mr. KK Modi is married to Bina Modi and they have three children, Lalit Modi, Samir Modi and Charu Modi who are handling various businesses of Modi Enterprises successfully.
