CHEN Chaomei

A leading expert in risk management and a successful business executive, Chaomei Chen is now the Chief Risk Officer at LendingClub, a public company based in San Francisco. She is responsible for the risk management function and infrastructure enabling LendingClub’s risk control to meet its business goal. Chaomei held various senior executive positions with several major banks in the US, including JPMorgan Chase/Washington Mutual, Providian Financial Corporation, FleetBoston Financial Services, and PNC National Bank. She also worked at Household Credit Services, American Express, and Citibank in the past. In 2002-2005, Chaomei served as Vice Chairman and Chief Credit Officer at Providian Financial Corporation during its turnaround period, including through the period of its merger with Washington Mutual. Chaomei is currently a member of Consumer Finance Advisory Board of TransUnion, a Steering Committee member of Edgar, Dunn & Company’s Risk Managers’ Round Table, a member of Whiting School of Engineering National Advisory Council at the Johns Hopkins University. Chaomei served as a member of Fair, Isaac’s Client Advisory Board and a member of the Financial Services Research Program at George Washington University. She also served as a charter member of the Equifax Risk Advisory Council. She has also been cited in a Harvard Business School Case related to the successful turnaround of Providian Financial Corporation (707446-HCB-ENG). Chaomei holds an M.S.E. in Mathematical Science from the Johns Hopkins University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Southwestern JiaoTong University, P.R. China.
