Jeff Xiong, Founding Managing Partner of 7 Seas Ventures, a venture capital firm focusing on investing cross border technology companies in US and China. With a vision of taking Chinese and Asia capital and resources to invest in US technology innovation, and helping US companies get into massive and fast-growing markets of China and Asia, the firm will invest into consumer and mobile internet, enterprise software and services, next generation connected devices and open source hardware. The firm invests in early stage cross border technology companies where it can help entrepreneurs in the US to tackle large Chinese market and manufacturing base, as well as assist Chinese companies with expansion in the US. Integration of hardware, software and services is one key area the firm is particularly interested in. Jeff is the Former Chief Technology Officer for Tencent from 2005 to 2013, where he was responsible for product strategy planning of the overall platform, new product innovation, research and development of core technologies, and management for engineering excellence. Previously worked at Microsoft for nine years as program management in Internet Explorer, Windows and MSN product groups in Redmond, WA, and as founding director of MSN China Development Center in Shanghai, China. Began at IBM in 1995 as Staff Programmer of Internet Division in White Plains, NY. Jeff received his Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Information System Engineering from National University of Defense Technology in 1987 and a Master of Science Degree in Information Retrieval from Chinese Defense Science and Technology Information Center (CDSTIC) in Beijing in 1990.
