Taizo NISHIMURO

Taizo Nishimuro was born in 1935. He graduated from the Economics department of Keio University and joined Toshiba Corporation in 1961. He built his career in sales and marketing, most notably in semiconductors, where he guided Toshiba to world leadership. He was named President and CEO in 1996, Chairman of the Board in 2000, and has been an Adviser to the Board since June 2005. In addition, he served as President and CEO of the Tokyo Stock Exchange Group, Inc. (TSE) from 2005 to 2007 and as Chairman from 2007 to 2010, during which time he accelerated internationalization of TSE’s activities. Since June 2013, he has served as President and CEO of Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. A successful career in international business has served Mr. Nishimuro well in many positions in organizations in Japan and overseas. He was Vice Chairman of the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren) from 2001 to 2005, Chairman of the Fiscal System Council that advises Japan’s Ministry of Finance from 2006 to 2010, and Chairman of Postal Services Privatization Committee from 2012 to 2013. Internationally, he was Chairman of the Japan-U.S. Business Council from 2002 to 2005. He was a member of the International Advisory Board of Rolls-Royce plc. From 2006-2012, and served on the International Advisory Board of China Investment Corporation from 2009 to 2013. He has chaired the New Japan-China Friendship Committee for the 21st Century from 2009 to 2014.
