Wen Hai is Professor of Economics at the China Centre for Economic Research and HSBC Business School in Peking University. He is Vice Chairman of Peking University Council and the Founding Dean of HSBC Business School, Peking University. He received his B.A. in economics from Peking University, M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from University of California at Davis. His research has focused on international trade, development economics, and China’s economic transition. He has published many academic books and journal articles in English and Chinese, including American Economics Review, NBER Working Papers, and International Economic Review. He is one of the most respected teachers and has won the Outstanding Teacher Award at Peking University. He is a member of Advisory Committee for Economic and Trade Policy of China’s Ministry of Commerce. He has been Chairman of the Board of China Economic Annual Conference since 2008. He served as President of Chinese Economists Society1993-1994. He has frequently delivered special speeches to researchers, government officials, business leaders on China’s economic reforms, development, and international trade.
