LI Tie

Director General, the China Center for Urban Development

Mr. Li Tie is the Director General of the China Center for Urban Development (CCUD), Research Fellow, Doctoral Advisor and the receiver of the State Council Special Expert Allowance. Previously, He has worked for the Rural Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, Rural Development Research Centre of the State Council, the State Commission for Economic Restructuring and the State Commission for Structural Reform. Mr. Li has been involved in drafting policy documents on urbanization for the Central Government and the State Council, conducting key research projects on China's urbanization strategy, urbanization planning for sound development and migration policy in the progress of urbanization, and providing policy consultancy and drafting for important documents such as National Urbanization Planning. Under his leadership, CCUD has been engaged in the cooperation with various international organizations including United Nations Development Program, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Ford Foundation, the World Economic Forum and the EU Commission. Mr. Li acts as the project leader in dozens of these international projects. His main works include Urbanization: A Comprehensive and Profound Social Transformation (book/author), Cities: My Personal Perspective (book/author). He is also the Chief Editor of Urbanizaiton and Social Transformation Series.
