Wan Saiful Wan Jan was born in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia in 1975 and joined the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) in 1992. He lived in Britain from 1993 to 2009 and worked at the CPSU, an organization subordinate to the Conservative Party of the UK. He became a member of the Conservative Party in 2005, and participated in the election of the Luton City Council members as a candidate of the Conservative Party in 2007. In 2010, he founded the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) in Malaysia and served as the CEO. In early 2018, he left IDEAS and joined the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM). He now serves as a Supreme Leadership Council member and the deputy chairman of the Policy and Strategy Bureau.
