Mr. M. Azath. S. Salley established Azath Salley Foundation in 2002 with the aim of improving the living standards of the underprivileged in this island. This ongoing project has helped over 500,000 people by assisting and focusing on four main areas of Health, Education, Housing and Disaster relief. From 1980 to 1989, he worked for Habib Bank AG Zurich; from 1997 to 2002, he was elected as the Municipal Councillor of Colombo City Council. From 2002 to 2006, he was appointed as deputy mayor of Colombo; from 2010 to 2012, he was appointed as the chairman of City Beautification Committee; From 2011 to 2012 November, he worked as the Municipal Councillor of Colombo City Council. From 2013 to 2016, he was elected as the Central Provincial Councillor. From 2015 January till now, he has been a member of National Executive Council.
