Dr. Shu holds a PhD in Electric Engineering and Automation from Wuhan University and is a Senior Engineer (professor level). He has served as Chairman of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. since November 15th, 2018, which is one of the largest power generation companies in the world and committed to green development, technological innovation as well as energy transition. He had successively served as Vice President, President, and Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China. Before that, he had served as President of State Power Construction Company, and as Chief Engineer of State Power Dispatching and Communication Center. He was elected as the 36th President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). He is delegate to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and Member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Dr. Shu is an influential expert in the energy and power sector in the world. He is also Member of the Chinese National Energy Expert Advisory Committee and Member of the National 13th Five-Year Plan Energy Coordination Leading Group. Since 1982, he has been engaging in works such as power grid dispatch and operation, power grid development and planning, research on and construction of ultra-high voltage and smart grid, new energy development, and internationalized operation, etc., with rich theoretical knowledge and practical experiences.
