Aye Kyu was born in 1945 in Monywa, Sagaing. In 1967, he began studying at Yangon Institute of Education. After graduation, he worked as an editor for six magazines and journals. He gave himself a pen-name Monywa Aung Shin and penned two anthologies of poetry. Later in 1988, he joined the Myanmar Writers and Journalists Association and operated two newspapers. He joined the Myanmar Democratic Union that year as response to diplomatic revolution. Now Executive Committee member and Secretary of the NLD. Meanwhile, he acts as editor-in-chief for D Wave Journal NLD. Thus far, he has had more than 50 years’ experience in literary editing.
