President of Cargill Asia Pacific Group Leader of CASC Cargill
Robert Aspell is the President of Cargill Asia Pacific and Group Leader of CASC Cargill since June 2018. Aspell Joined Cargill Canada in 1983 as sales manager in Quebec. In 1989, he moved to Geneva to lead Cargill’s global feed grains trading from Cargill’s trading hub. After a decade in the trading sphere, he took on the challenge to develop Cargill’s presence in Egypt in 1993. Later on in his tenure as President of Cargill Mexico in 1997, he helped develop the business from an agency model to an integrated business model linked to Cargill’s global supply chain with processing and trading activities. Since 2005, Aspell came to China has served as the President for Cargill Grain & Oilseeds Supply Chain China & Korea. In December 2009, he became the country representative for China and add the title of president of Cargill China to his responsibilities. In 2017, he took the role of Cargill Grain & Oilseeds Supply Chain North Asia. In June 2018, Aspell was appointed the President of Cargill Asia Pacific and the Group Leader of CASC Cargill. Aspell has led Cargill’s efforts to drive sustainability in agriculture and to enrich the communities where the company operates. He also has made a lot of efforts also to facilitate Shanghai’s cultural exchange with the rest of the world. Being an avid hockey lover himself, he initiated the Shanghai Youth Ice Hockey program in 2006 and volunteered to be a coach, making sport a platform to connect the younger generations of Shanghai with those from the overseas. Aspell obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business from Concordia University in Montreal Canada in 1983. He lives in Shanghai.
