Stephen Engle is an award-winning Hong Kong-based reporter for Bloomberg Television, covering breaking news on the business and financial markets of greater China and the rest of Asia. Engle brings more than twenty-five years of experience reporting on top business, technology and general news for audiences across the Asia-Pacific region. Throughout his career in broadcast journalism, Engle has served as an anchor, reporter and producer based in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei and Tokyo. He has covered visits to Asia by Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama and interviewed top political leaders including Nobel Peace Laureates Aung San Suu Kyi and Kim Dae-Jung, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Taiwan's Ma Ying-jeou and Chen Shui-bian, the U.K.'s Tony Blair and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Engle has also interviewed business leaders including UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti, Ford Motor's William Ford Jr. and Alan Mulally, Virgin Group Chairman and founder Sir Richard Branson, Cisco CEO John Chambers, China Mobile's Wang Jianzhou, TSMC's Morris Chang, Toyota Motor’s Akio Toyoda, Arcelor Mittal's Lakshmi Mittal, Nissan Motor's Carlos Ghosn and Viacom's Sumner Redstone, among many others. In 2013, Engle was recognized as Best Current Affairs Presenter at the 18th Asian Television Awards. Prior to joining Bloomberg Television in 2003, Engle held positions with CNN International, CNBC Asia and NHK. Engle is a Seattle, Washington native and an alumnus of Washington State University.
