Member of the national committee of CPPCC, President (Secretary of Party Committee) and chief expert of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation（CAITEC） of the Ministry of Commerce. He is also member of the Strategic Emerging Industry Development Consultative Committee, member of Top-level Design Expert Group for National Innovation-Driven Development Strategy, member of the Council for China’s Arms Control and Disarmament Association, Advisory Group Expert of Comprehensive Pilot of Expanded Opening-up of the Service Industry for Beijing Municipality, and “Belt and Road Initiative” Distinguished Senior Consultant for the Government of Fujian Province. Dr. GU’s research covers areas including opening-up development strategy, multilateral and bilateral economic relation, international trade, international investment, industrial development strategy, regional economics, domestic trade circulation, and brand strategy. In recent years, he has been participating frequently in the State Council’s important policy making process, both in drafting and advisory work. At the same time, he is responsible for nearly 50 national and provincial research projects and has published several academic papers. He also published signed articles on People’s Daily and Qiushi journal, and won numerous national awards in the field of commerce research.
