Born in 1971 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Dr. Hartel obtained a Master’s in chemistry at the University of Constance in 1996 and Doctorate in natural sciences (Dr. phil. nat.) at the universities of Geneva and Frankfurt am Main in 2000. Dr. Hartel became Senior Consultant at Bain & Company Germany Inc., Munich in 2000. Dr. Hartel joined Wacker-Chemie GmbH, Corporate Development in 2003 and was assigned as Head of the Exclusive Synthesis Business Team at WACKER FINE CHEMICALS in 2005. He took up Supply Chain Management of the Elastomers Business Unit in 2006 and took charge of the Rubber Solutions Business Team at WACKER SILICONES in 2009. Dr. Hartel became the Head of Raw Materials Procurement at Wacker Chemie AG in 2009 and Head of WACKER SILICONES in 2012. Since November 2015, Dr. Hartel became member of the Executive Board of Wacker Chemie AG, responsible for WACKER POLYMERS, the Asia/Pacific/India regions, Human Resources and Corporate Engineering. Dr. Hartel is also the advisory board member of the association “German-Chinese Initiatives for Business and Education”.
