Dr Della Suantio Lee is the Founder and Chairperson of DS Lee Foundation. DS Lee Foundation was established in 2004 to aid charitable giving in areas of healthcare, social welfare, education and the arts. Her passion is in the area of supporting nursing and she works closely with the Ministry of Health in Singapore to understand the needs of the healthcare sector. As Founder and Chairperson of the DS Lee Foundation, Dr Della Suantio Lee has established many scholarships. In 2007 she made a gift in memory of her parents to establish the Thio Kok Foe & Choo Kim Beng Nursing Scholarship at National University of Singapore. This helps students with academic excellence who need financial assistance with priority given to children of police officers. The Singapore Management University is the benefactor of the de Suantio undergraduate scholarship which is bond-free, the Thio Kok Foe and Choo Kim Beng Bursary Grants to help needy undergraduate students and the D.S. Lee Foundation Inspiration Grant for the Arts to support performing arts groups. The D.S. Lee Foundation also established the Tan Chin Tuan Nursing Award for enrolled nurses in 2006. This annual award honours outstanding enrolled nurses who are committed to advancing the nursing profession. In 2017, Dr Della Suantio Lee was awarded the Her Times Philanthropy Award, a recognition for her contributions to Singapore-Indonesia Relations and her outstanding work in philanthropy on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Singapore. Dr Della Suantio Lee married the late Dr Lee Seng Gee in 1991. Dr Lee Seng Gee was the chairman of the Lee Foundation and made sizeable contributions to benefit education, the arts and social welfare. Dr Della Suantio Lee graduated from the Government University of North Sumatera, Medan, with a degree in Medicine. She was the Chief of Executive Health Check-up of Pondok Indah Hospital, Jakarta.
