David Li joined J.P. Morgan China in October 2014 as Chairman and CEO, overseeing the overall operations of the firm’s businesses in the country and chairing the China Management Committee. David is focused on building a strong and comprehensive management infrastructure to support the growth of the firm’s business in the country, as well as on the strategic development of the firm’s China franchise. David Li has been promoted to Vice Chairman of Global Banking for J.P. Morgan in May 2018. In addition, he also covers China business as Senior Country Officer. He provides advice to key clients in the region and facilitating key regulatory relationship in China. He dedicates to improve China capital market internationalization and the level of China corporates’ involvement into international capital markets. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, David was the Chairman and Country Head of UBS China and Chairman of the Board for UBS Securities Co., Ltd. and played a critical role in building up the first Sino-foreign fully licensed securities joint venture company. During his tenure with UBS, he also developed and executed a sound China strategy and successfully led the establishment of various China platforms for USB, including banking, securities, asset management and wealth management, and futures & Options. From 2001 to 2005, David was the General Manager of China Merchants Holdings (International). David was named one of CNBC Asia business leaders in 2004. In 2016, by virtue of his “Strategy-driven” management concept and effective leadership, David was the only one named as the “Most Influential Investment Banker in China” in the last decade.
