Tian Wei is a former US correspondent and anchor of "World Insight with Tian Wei" on CGTN, international debate & high-profile interview program. Starting from a radio producer to becoming a reporter, a news presenter, a talk show host, a Washington Correspondent covering the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and now as host of CGTN, Tian aspires to be the link between China and the world. Over the years, Tian has secured exclusive interviews not only with politicians, such as: UN Secretary-General Guterres, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but also women leaders: Melinda Gates, Sheryl Sandberg, Christian Lagarde; as well as Nobel laureates, Oscar Award winners, Olympian champions, outstanding figures from all walks of life. She has also been hosting the network’s onsite special coverage: the UN General Assembly, the World Economic Forum, the G20 summit, the APEC Summit, the Belt & Road Forum, the BRICS Summit, the Climate Change Conference, and the Beijing Olympic Games. Her no-nonsense, and fair approach has not only made her popular with audiences but also earned her recognition worldwide. Tian was named as a "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum and she serves on its media council. Over the years, she has won various professional awards, including: China's National Journalism Awards, the National Award for International Broadcasters and CCTV Host of the Year. In addition to her work, Tian is actively involved and outspoken on issues of poverty alleviation, health, environmental protection and gender equity. She has been honored by the United Nations Development Program as a Special Advisor. She is also China's National Advocacy Ambassador for Mental Health and a member of the national advocacy team on HIV-AIDS.
