Host, Dialogue with Yang Rui, China Global Television Network
Yang Rui graduated from Shanghai International Studies University in 1986 with Bachelor’s degrees in English & American Literature and International Journalism. He received his MA in Mass Communications from Cardiff University of Wales in 1994. He is currently the host of Dialogue with Yang Rui, a daily current-affairs talk show on China Global Television Network. He was host of the Journey of Civilizations weekly program on CCTV-4, a 45-minute Chinese talk show from 2010. Yang Rui is one of the most influential hosts of CCTV. He was the winner of the top ten hosts of China Central Television, and the national Golden Microphone Best Anchor Award in 2004, 60 Best Anchors in 60 Years in 2009, and Best Anchor of China Central Television in 2011. He is a member of the CCTV Experts Panel on Host and Anchor Affairs, and Honorary Professor of International Journalism at Tsinghua University. He has been the anchor of the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia for four years. He is the author of Who Misunderstand China, Swordsman vs Anchor and Highlights of Dialogue. In 28 years, Yang Rui has interviewed heads of state, Nobel Prize laureates, world public figures, and covered and hosted numerous major domestic and world events. He is known for being knowledgeable, discerning, provocative and balanced. He has been honored as one of the best anchors in Asia by Tsinghua University; Germany’s Der Spiegel said he represents hope in Chinese media; and South Africa’s television ratings agency New Global Fortune selected Yang Rui as one of the most fair and balanced anchors around the world.
