Chairman, Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co Ltd.

Mr. Cho Takwong is the chairman of Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co. Ltd. He also serves as a member of the Twelfth National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the vice chairman for the China Overseas Chinese Investment Association etc. Born in 1946, Mr. Cho started his career from a very humble beginning. He earned his first bucket of gold by reviving a small business on the brink of bankruptcy from the later 70s. With that, he founded Fuyao Group in 1987, to dedicate in the manufacturing and sales of automotive safety glass and industrial technological glass. Under his leadership and development in the past 30 years, Fuyao Group has become the world's largest automotive glass manufacturer and has established 23 production bases in China, Russia, Germany and the United States. Until now, Fuyao Group’s total investment in the United States has reached one billion US dollars and has created nearly 5,000 manufacturing jobs in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and other states, which is the largest investment from private corporates of China. In recognition of his achievements, Mr. Cho stood out amongst the 43 entrepreneurs from all over the world in 2009, and became the first Chinese national to be named “Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur” since the award was established in 1986. Mr. Cho is also a well-known philanthropist in China. His donation of 300 million shares of Fuyao Glass, valued at 564 million US dollars, to set up Heren Foundation in May 2011, which at the time, was the largest charitable foundation in China and China’s first charity foundation financed with stocks. It was considered a milestone in China’s charity progress.
