Mr. Ong started his career in public service in 1983. Later he joined the financial authorities, serving primarily as a financial regulator. In 2002, as Chinese Taipei became a member of the World Trade Organization. Mr. Ong was posted to Geneva as Counsellor of the Chinese Taipei mission. He then moved on to New York to head the Representative Office of the Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission. As a turn of his career, he was appointed Representative to New Delhi where he served 4 years before returning to Taiwan in 2012. Mr. Ong graduated from Taiwan University, majoring in international relations. He was awarded the Chevening scholarship to enroll in the Cass Business School of the City University, London, where he earned an MS degree in investment and risk management in 1998.
