Shi Wenchao is President of China UnionPay Co. Ltd. He is dedicated to building UnionPay into an open platform that provides integrated payment services with global influence. His leadership at the company contributes to innovation and healthy growth of the payment industry. Before his appointment at China UnionPay in September 2013, Mr. Shi served as Secretary-General of NAFMII (National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors) (2007-2013) and promoted the leapfrog development of China’s interbank bond market. Prior to that, he had many years of working experience at China’s Central Bank and financial institutions. He was also long engaged in macro-economic analysis and financial market studies. Mr. Shi holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics. He is a senior economist and post-graduate supervisor.
