Hongjie ZHANG

Historian and Writer, RENMIN UNIVERSITY of CHINA

Zhang Hongjie, born in 1972 in Liaoning. Bachelor of Economics from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Ph.D. in History from Fudan University and Postdoctoral at Tsinghua University. Now working at the Renmin University of China Institute of Qing Dynasty. He published 12 books, including “The Seven Faces of the Ming Dynasty”, “The Front and Side Views about Zeng Guofan”, “The Evolution of China’s National Character”, and “The flourishing age of hunger”. Many of his works published in Japan and South Korea. He published dozens of papers in magazines such as “Research on the History of China’s Economy”, “Oriental History Review” and “Social Science Forum”. He’s a member of the Chinese Writers Association and a member of the Presidium of the Liaoning Writers Association. He has published a large number of literary works in magazines such as “Contemporary” and won the “National Steed Literature Prize” and other literary awards. He also is the chief contributor of the full length documentary film “The rise and fall of the state of Chu” and “Confucius”. He gave constantly speech about “success or failure of Qianlong” on CCTV “100 Forum” in 2013.
