Mr. Jiang Sixian is currently Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress and Chairman of the University Council of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. From 2006 to 2013, Mr. Jiang Sixian successively served as Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Standing Committee Member of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Party Secretary of Sanya. He was directly involved in the organization of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conferences for seven years from 2007 to 2013 and led the service work for the Forum in Hainan. Thus, he has a profound understanding of the development mission and operational mechanisms of the Forum. Prior to taking up the office in Hainan, he served as Vice Mayor of Shanghai and other important leadership positions, making contributions to the reform and development of Shanghai as well as the development and opening-up of Pudong. As one of the special envoys of the Chinese government, he participated in the whole process of Shanghai’s bid to host the World Expo 2010. Besides, he also took part in the organization work of the APEC Summit, the Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting held in Shanghai and the BRICS Leaders Meeting held in Sanya, Hainan in 2011, held direct exchanges with over hundred leaders, entrepreneurs and academics of foreign countries, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and established wide domestic and international connections. In January 2014, Mr. Jiang Sixian was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, Chairman of the University Council of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and now continues to play a unique role in the fields of China's higher education reform, development and opening-up. Mr. Jiang Sixian graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a Master degree in engineering. He furthered study in urban economicis in the University of British Columbia in Canada and in senior executive management in Harvard University. Rich theoretical knowledge and years of work in government and education area have made Mr. Jiang an expert in decision-making consulting and reform management. Mr. Jiang Sixian loves sports. He has a daughter. He was elected as a member of the Council of the Boao Forum for Asia in 2010 and re-elected in April 2013.
