Ms. Takako Masai is the Member of the Policy Board of the Bank of Japan (present term of office is from June 30, 2016 to June 29, 2021). She graduated from Jissen Women’s University with a B.A. in English Literature in 1988. She joined Scotiabank, Tokyo branch in that year，starting her professional career. She developed her career at several financial institutions in Tokyo including The Toronto Dominion Bank, Credit Agricole Indosuez and Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank. In 2007, she joined Shinsei Bank, Limited as General Manager of Capital Markets Division. At the bank, she held a position as Executive Officer (2013-2016). She received her MBA degree from Hosei University in 2007.
