Prof. James Edward Randall is Chair of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Island Studies, UPEI. He serves as Co-ordinator of the Master of Arts in Island Studies (MAIS) program and the undergraduate Island Studies minor. He is the also the co-holder of the UNESCO Chair in Island Studies and Sustainability. In the past 15 years, Dr. Randall has secured more than US$2.25 million in competitive grants and contracts and has written more than 35 peer-reviewed publications in the area of quality-of-life indicators, economic and urban geography, and community-university research collaboration. He has extensive experience as an academic administrator at three universities, including as a Dean, Vice-President Academic and Provost. He is also a pioneer in community-university scholarship, has assembled and led large multidisciplinary teams of researchers and practitioners from communities and universities, organized major international conferences and has coordinated field courses on sustainability issues in Africa and Mexico.
