The Founder and CEO of Breyer Capital

Jim is the Founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, a global venture capital firm. Jim has been an investor in over 40 highly successful consumer internet/technology companies and has assisted teams at over a dozen companies complete IPOs.   

Jim has a deep interest in AI and HAI, and he is actively investing in this space. Jim also has a long track record of investing in China and is a longtime partner of IDG Capital, a premier VC firm based in Beijing. In addition, Breyer Capital is a major limited partner in IDG Capital Funds and Jim currently holds its leading outside strategic advisory role.   

Jim serves on the boards of Blackstone and 21st Century Fox. Previously, he has served on the boards of Facebook, Etsy, Legendary, Marvel Entertainment, Wal-Mart, Dell, Inc. and others.

Jim is passionate about philanthropy and applying innovation models to areas such as education, the arts, and environmental sustainability. Jim is a Fellow of Harvard Corporation, Harvard University’s senior governing board, a member of Harvard Business School’s Board of Dean’s Advisors, Chairman of the Advisory Board at the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, and a founding member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at Stanford’s School of Engineering. Jim is also a longtime Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).
