Responsible Professorof Economics in tTsinghua University of Social Sciences

Mr. Cai Jiming was born in 1956. He now holds severalpositions in the renowned Tsinghua University, including Responsible Professorof Economics in the School of Social Sciences, Director of Center for PoliticalEconomy, and Vice Chairman of Academic Committee for the School of SocialSciences. He earned a Ph.D. in Political Economy from Nankai University, andwas a Fulbright Visiting Researcher at KSG of Harvard University.

Cai is the founder of Theory of Value and Rent Theory thatencompasses every relevant sector such as manufacturing, agriculture, commerce,mining, banking and housing. He also put forward the theory of distributionbased on contributions of productive factors. He is also the author of manyeconomic monographs and textbooks, including Monopoly Enough Price (Nankai University Press, 1992), Distribution Based on Contributions ofProductive Factors (People’s Publishing House, 2008), Theory of Value: From Special to General (Truth & Wisdom Press,2010), and Advanced Political Economy (Higher Education Press, 2015).

Apart from his academic excellence, Mr. Cai also has a high politicalstatus in China. He was a delegate to the 12th National People’s Congress ofthe People’s Republic of China, and had been a member of the 9th -11thNational Committee of CPPCC, and still is a member of its subcommittee of economy.He also serves as a standing member of Central Committee of China Associationfor Promoting Democracy, director of Economic Committee of Central Committee ofCAPD, and a special advisor to the Supreme People’s Court of the PRC.
