David Chu is Chairman of Georg Jensen, the Danish design house, founded in 1904 and based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Georg Jensen is renowned for artistic boldness, superior craftsmanship and collaborations with some of the leading designers of the past century and today. Founded in 1904 by master silversmith Georg Jensen, its collections include sterling silverware and flatware, fine jewellery, watches, accessories and a home collection. David has revitalized the brand by launching new collaborations with world-renowned designers such as Marc Newson and Zaha Hadid.

In 1983, David founded the Nautica clothing brand, and under his design leadership, Nautica grew from a men’s outerwear company to a billion-dollar lifestyle brand with worldwide distribution, and a shop-in-shop presence in more than 500 global department and specialty stores. The company was acquired by Vanity Fair Corporation in 2003. In 2007, he joined Tumi, a global travel accessory brand, where he expanded the company’s platform into the prestige sector and added women’s accessories

Born in Taiwan and raised in Connecticut, David graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree in design. David has received the STAR Award from the Fashion Institute of Technology recognizing the most distinguished alumni. He is also a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America and has served on its Board of Directors.
