Hartmut ESSLINGER

HonRDI

Founder, Frog Design

Prof. Dr. Hartmut Esslinger HonRDI is an international leading master and a pioneer of convergent industrial design and strategic design. He was the first designer who applied a human-oriented, high-tech design to the World of complex hardware and software technology. Esslinger worked with some of the most prestigious global companies and in some cases such as Sony, Wega, Louis Vuitton, Lufthansa, SAP, Microsoft and Apple he helped them to convert their competencies and entrepreneurial desire into global brands.

As of 1982, Esslinger worked for many years with Steve Jobs and together they pioneered the new consumer markets of personal computing and digital consumer electronics. Apple’s design still applies Esslinger’s design strategy: Keep it Simple.

In 1969, Esslinger founded “frog design”, now the World’s most successful design agency with more than 1200 employees in studios around the world. His designs are collected by many museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York and “Die Neue Sammlung” - the International Design Museum, Munich.

Bloomberg Business Week - where he was featured in a cover story in 1990 - called him the most influential American industrial designer since the 1930s and the first Superstar of High-Tech Design.
