Regional President of Asia Pacific for the Biopharma business of Merck

E. Allan Gabor is the Regional President of Asia Pacific for the Biopharma business of Merck since January 2016 encompassing APAC, China and Japan. He is responsible for the whole business operations throughout Asia with a focus to enhance footprint in key strategic markets and strengthen speciality business in the region.

He used to work as President and CEO for the Biopharma business in China in February 2013. Al has led the company in making a series of investments, including building Merck’s second largest worldwide - and first in China - pharma manufacturing facility in Nantong, established a new Business Unit for Diabetes and fostered the partnership with nonprofit organizations to enable better access to global standard of care in fertility treatment in China.

Prior to Merck, Al has gained 25 years of experience at Pfizer in roles including Chairman and General Manager for China, and Regional President for North Asia, Russia, India, Turkey and Eastern Europe.

Al holds a BA in Communications from the College of Wooster.
