Jun Tang was Vice President of Beijing Wanda Cultural Industry Group, the largest cultural and entertainment conglomerate in China. He oversees the company’s film, television, live entertainment and theme parks businesses.Prior to Wanda, Tang was Chief Executive Officer of Media Asia Group Holdings Limited and was responsible for managing all aspects of Media Asia’s business and operations on a worldwide basis.Prior to joining Media Asia, Tang was Group Senior Vice President of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd and Chief Executive Officer of Shanda Tiandi Ltd.,a subsidiary of Shanda Group charged to develop next generation interactive entertainment experience and products. Tang had been Senior Vice President – Greater China, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) where he was responsible for the management of Disney’s overall activities in Greater China since 1993.An integral part of the China management team and a visionary strategist and leader for Disney in modern China, Tang worked with various Disney business units and corporate functions and developed and led in the execution of business strategies in virtually every aspect of entertainment industry and corporate functions, including film, television and broadcast, live entertainment, consumer product, music, publishing, Internet, theme parks and resorts, corporate alliances, corporate brand management, corporate strategic sourcing, intellectual property rights protection efforts, etc., for China. He played a vital role in Disney’s efforts for building a theme park and resort in Shanghai, China. Tang was also responsible and successfully managed Disney’s relationship with the Chinese government, at both central and local level and laid and secured a solid foundation which enables Disney's future business growth and expansion in China.
Tang began his career at China Film Group in 1983 in Beijing, China where he was responsible for the selection and negotiation of foreign films and audio and video products for distribution in China, and the distribution and promotion of Chinese movies overseas. While at China Film, he obtained hands-on experience in all aspect of China’s media, entertainment and cultural businesses.He was assigned to work at China Film Los Angeles, U.S.A. in 1990 and managed all aspects of the firm’s business as its manager, where he further developed and expended business relationships with Hollywood studios and major entertainment players in the States.
