Zhang Yue, Chairman and President of BROAD Group, was born in Changsha in 1960. He graduated with a college degree in Fine Arts in 1980, and worked as a teacher and a librarian. In 1988, Zhang Yue and his younger brother founded BROAD with 30,000 CNY (Renminbi).Ever since its inception, Zhang Yue has had an innate passion for converting creative thinking into technology. He has obtained well over 300 patents for his inventions. For example, the pressure-free hot water boiler in 1989, the non-electric air conditioning in 1992, the cooling, heating, and power (CHP) system in 1999, air purification technology with electrostatic cleaner in 2005, clean fresh air technology in 2007, the factory-made stainless steel sustainable building (BSB) in 2009, and the honeycomb stainless steel building in 2015. Each of his inventions has revolutionized the industry, making BROAD a globally recognized technological leader. While facing the imminent situation of global climate change and air pollution, Zhang Yue dreamed of his inventions to completely replace traditional technologies to reduce pollutant emissions such as CO2 by five times more for the building sector. He was awarded “the Champions of the Earth” by United Nation in 2011, “the Innovation Award” by CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat) in 2013, and “the world's Top 25 Eco-Innovators” by Fortune.
