French Minister of Relations with the Parliament

Jean-Marie Le Guen is Minister in charge of Relations with the Parliament. He served as Member of Parliament from 1989 to 1993 and from 1997 to 2014. He sat at the Foreign Affairs Committee. He also used to manage issues related to public health. He introduced many Bills about public health issues, particularly regarding access to tobacco and alcohol. In 2008, he became deputy mayor of Paris, in charge of Public Health and Chairman of Public Assistance – Paris Hospitals (AP-HP) until 2014. The AP-HP is the public hospital system of Paris and its suburbs. It is the largest hospital system in Europe and one of the largest in the world. He is former President of the French – Chinese friendship Committee at the French Parliament. Elected from the district with the largest Chinese population in Europe, he is particularly involved in improving the relationship between France and China. In 2013, he has launched a new think-tank (le Pôle des Réformateurs) which aims to promote the reformers and social-democrats’ ideas. He is the author of the book "Sauvons notre Santé, avant qu’il ne soit trop tard !" (We must save our health care system before it is too late). He is a doctor and is graduated of a Master in Health Economics.
