Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui was appointed as Chairman to GreenTech Malaysia on 7 April 2015. Prior to that, he served as the Special Advisor to GreenTech Malaysia from November 2013 until the time of his new appointment. The esteemed Chairman currently sits on the board of IOI Group, heading the Nominating and Remuneration Committee as well as being a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the company. Tan Sri Peter was previously the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water from April 2009 – May 2013. Previously, he was the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities from April 2004 – April 2009. Tan Sri Peter was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inns, London in 1971. He returned to Malaysia and started his law practise in Miri, Sarawak in 1972. Prior to becoming a Minister, Tan Sri Peter has held several positions, from Member of Parliament for Miri in Sarawak (1986-2013) to Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Social Welfare (1986-1990), Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment (1990- 1995), and Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government (1995-1999). During his tenure as the Minister of KeTTHA, he oversaw the implementation of a range of key green policies including the National Green Technology Policy 2009 as well as the Renewable Energy Policy and Action Plan 2010. Tan Sri Peter provides counsel to GreenTech Malaysia on the roll out of initiatives under the organisation’s key flagships – Green Malaysia Plan, Green Procurement, Electric Mobility and Sustainable Living, which aim to position Malaysia as a hub for green technology. With his wealth of experience in the industry, Tan Sri Peter Chin will be able to steer GreenTech Malaysia towards achieving its vision.
