Ms. Liao Xiaoyi, founder of Global Village of Beijing(GVB), Master of Philosophy, Zhongshan University, Honorary Doctor of Law, Fairfield University. Once a lecturer of Philosophy at Sichuan University, an assistant researcher at the Chinese Academy of Sociology, visiting scholar in Environmental Policy at North Carolina State University, environmental adviser of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. In 1996, Liao established GVB and launched series of events and activities including “waste-sorting”, “Green Community” and the “26C Campaign”, which turned to be public policies. Since 2008, She has been promoting her vision of "LOHO - Life of Harmony", practicing a low-carbon, urban-rural cooperative community model and facilitating social workers at the frontline throughout the nation, one in the earthquake-stricken Sichuan province and others in Chongqing, Hunan and Shandong provinces. For her tireless work and efforts, Liao is a recipient of numerous domestic and international awards, such as the environment Prix "Sophie Prize" from Norway 2000, “Banksias Award” by the Australian government 2001,“Global Citizen Award” by Clinton Global Initiative 2008, “Green Person of the year award” for environmental achievement by Joint committee of seven Ministries led by Ministry of Environment 2006, “Most influential Charity Project Award” by Ministry of Civil Affairs 2008, “China’s Low-carbon Model” by the National Development and Reform Commission, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, State Council Information Office and Beijing Municipal Government 2011, “2015 Charity Person of the year” by the 5th Charity Festival Organizing Committee.
