Victoria B. Mars is Chairman of the Board for Mars, Incorporated. She is a fourth generation member of the Mars family whose great-grandfather, Frank C. Mars, founded the company in 1911.For 35 years, Victoria has held various roles throughout the company, beginning in Haguenau, France, where she first served as Assistant Brand Manager for MILKY WAY® and Export Manager. After receiving her MBA in 1984, she joined Mars Electronics International, as the Director of their Marine Systems Division. In 1986, Victoria transferred to Dove, International as Vice President of S&F, Commercial, and People and Organization. In 1997, Victoria took on a new challenge as Mars’ first Ombudsman. Armed with her commitment to Associates and making Mars a great place to work, she educated herself and the organization about what a best-in-class ombudsman program delivers. She then created a structure and built a team. For the last 16 years, that team has provided Associates with the opportunity to address work-related issues with a neutral third party in a confidential and informal manner. Victoria has been a member of the Mars Board of Directors since 2006 and currently serves on the Board’s Remuneration Committee and is a member of the Benefit Funding & Investment Oversight Committee. Outside of the business, Victoria is a member of the Boards of Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia, The Salzburg Global Seminar based in Washington DC and Salzburg, Austria, and The Center for Large Landscape Conservation in Bozeman, Montana. Victoria graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in administrative sciences and German and French languages and holds a master’s degree in finance from the Wharton School of Business. She is a cat lover who enjoys the mountains, traveling, skiing, cycling, hiking, and creating family photo albums.
