Masataka Fujita: Secretary-General, ASEAN-Japan Centre, from September 2015. Former Head of the Investment Trends and Issues Branch, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. He worked as an economist for the United Nations more than 30 years from 1984 to August 2015, involved mainly in economic research and policy analysis. He was a lead author of the World Investment Report and other publications on foreign direct investment (FDI), as well as documents for various inter-governmental meetings such as the Commission on Investment, Enterprise and Development. Also a member of various task force and inter-governmental meetings on FDI. He also provided technical cooperation on the issues related to FDI. He obtained a B.A. from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan; M.A. from Pennsylvania State University, United States and another M.A. from Waseda University; and completed the doctorate course at Waseda University. Authored or co-authored more than 70 articles and books, including among others The Transnational Activities of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (Kluwer Academics Publishers) and articles in major professional journals including the Journal of International Business Studies.
