Former Prime Minister of Japan Chairman, Boao Forum for Asia

Yasuo Fukuda graduated from Waseda University in 1959, and then entered the workforce. He was appointed secretary to the Prime Minister in 1977, and was elected into the House of Representatives in 1990. Mr. Yasuo Fukuda successively served as Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Department of the Liberal Democratic Party, and other positions. In 2000, he became Chief Cabinet Secretary of the Japanese Government. In the next three and half years, he successively served as Chief Cabinet Secretary of the Mori and Koiz Umi Cabinets. In 2007, he was elected Prime Minister of Japan. During his term of office, Mr. Yasuo Fukuda committed to improving the environment for the goal of building a sustainable society, and made tireless efforts to establish a new relationship between Japan and China. Currently, Mr. Yasuo Fukuda is active in the Boao Forum for Asia and other high-end international forums and conferences.
