E. Allan Gabor has been appointed as President of APAC, China and Japan for the Biopharma business of Merck effective January 1, 2016 encompassing Australia, India, South Korea, Japan, China including the regions of Hong Kong and Taiwan. He joined Merck in February 2013 as the President and CEO for the Merck Biopharma business in China. Prior to joining Merck, Al has gained 25 years of experience at Pfizer in roles including Chairman and General Manager for China, and Regional President for North Asia, Russia, India, Turkey and Eastern Europe. Al holds a BA in Communications from The College of Wooster. As a senior executive, he has also gained further education experience at the University of Tennessee and Harvard Business School. Al was awarded the White Yulan Award in 2008 and 2010, by the Shanghai Municipal Government, in a public recognition of his outstanding contributions to health care. In 2013, Al was appointed Chairman of China Thyroid Public Health Education Committee.
