Mark Tucker is responsible for continuing to grow AIA’s unparalleled platform across 18 markets in the Asia Pacific region. With a market capitalization of over US$80 billion, AIA is the second largest life insurance company in the world and the world’s largest independent, listed pan-Asia life insurance group. Following his appointment in July 2010, Mark spearheaded the successful and record breaking IPO for the AIA Group in October 2010: the largest IPO in Hong Kong’s history, the third largest IPO ever in the world and the largest IPO ever in the insurance sector. AIA is the largest Hong Kong incorporated and headquartered company on the Hang Seng Index. Prior to joining AIA, Mark was Group Chief Executive at Prudential plc from 2005 to 2009, building it to be the UK’s largest quoted life insurance company, a FTSE 100 constituent with a market capitalization of around US$30 billion. Mark has been based in Asia for over 20 years including from 1994 to 2003 as founder Chief Executive of Prudential Corporation Asia expanding its operations from 3 to 12 countries. Mark directed and led the rapid growth of Prudential’s agency operations from a few hundred agents in three countries to over 450,000 agents across 12 markets. In addition to being a member of the Asia Business Council, Mark is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Asia Global Institute, an associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a member of the International Advisory Board for the Lingnan College, Sun Yat-Sen University in China. Mark is an independent board member of Goldman Sachs Inc since November 2012. Mark was a Non-Executive Director of the Court of The Bank of England and a member of its Financial Stability Committee, from 1 June 2009 to 31 May 2012.
