Wu Xiaoling, former Deputy Governor of the People's Bank of China (PBC), is the Standing Committee of National People's Congress, the Vice Chairman of the Financial and Economic Committee of the National People’s Congress, the Executive Vice-chairperson of the Finance and Banking Society of China, the Honorary Chairwoman of the Financial Accounting Society of China, Honorary Chairman of China Foundation for Development of Financial Education, Chairman & Dean &  Part-time Professor and a tutor of doctoral candidates of PBC School of Finance of Tsinghua University, Member of the Chinese Economists 50 Forum (50 Forum) and 50 Forum Academic Auditing Committee. She started her career at the PBC in 1985, when she was appointed Deputy Director of the Office for Applied Theoretical Research at the PBC’s Research Institute. In 1994, she was appointed as Director General of the PBC's Research Bureau. She was promoted to Deputy Administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange under the PBC in 1995 and then to Administrator in April 1998. In November 1998, she was appointed as President of the PBC's Shanghai branch. She received Sun YeFang Economics Prize, the highest Chinese award in the field, in 1994. She ranked 35 on Forbes’s “100 Most Powerful Women 2006” and 18 on Forbes's “100 Most Powerful Women 2007”. She was included in the “Top 50 Women to Watch”, released by the Wall Street Journal in the year of 2004 and 2005. She was also included in the “China Economic Person of the Year” released by CCTV in 2011. She graduated from the Graduate School of the PBC in 1984.
